A weight ratio, not a universal taste claim
1:16 means one gram of coffee to sixteen grams of water. Choose whether coffee or water weight is known and calculate the other. Adjust the ratio to your method.
Example and limitations
20 g of coffee at 1:16 calls for 320 g of water. Grind, roast and brewing method matter, so no single ratio is labeled ideal for everyone.
